Our Area
Hengrave Meadow is on the edge of the village of Swannington, which is a pretty and rural hamlet with a village green, thatched pump, a stream running through and a lovely church. There are lots of great footpaths for walkers, starting on the doorstep going past the magnificent 300 year old yew hedge belonging to our neighbours at The Manor.
Swannington Farm to Fork is an award winning butchery a pleasant half hour stroll away from Hengrave Meadow and sells a great range of meat and dairy produce. If you enjoy gardening The Romantic Garden Nursery is closer still and has beautiful topiary and plants.
There is easy access on to Marriott’s Way Heritage Trail which is a 25 mile long path using the former railway line from Norwich to Aylsham. This can be joined about a mile from Hengrave and is wonderful for safe cycling. This links with other National Cycling Network paths so you can really explore.
It is three and a half miles to the market town of Reepham which has a supermarket, post office, pubs, restaurants, shops and a great deli. A few miles further is the village of Heydon, with a wood fired bakery, pub, craft shops and a fabulous tea room. Itteringham is another village where we love to walk and its community shop is a great stop off point for coffee and cake and stocks anything and everything else you could need. It is open seven days a week and is run by passionate local volunteers. The pub in Itteringham is also well worth a visit.
